Early Eddie Albert Signed Letter

Eddie Albert was best known as the confused city-slicker-turned farmer in TV's "Green Acres." He played Oliver Douglas, a New York lawyer who had always had a burning desire to make a living "from the land." Unfortunately Mr. Haney conned him into buying his farm,"the Haney Place," the most run-down, worthless farm in the state. Mr. Douglas didn't leave his tie in New York; he didn't even take it off to plow his fields. The glamourous Eva Gabor played his loving wife Lisa. Probably the third most popular star of the series was Arnold the Pig.

Eddie Albert was nominated for Academy Awards as supporting actor in Roman Holliday (1953) and "The Heartbreak Kid (1972).

Eddie Albert also worked in Mexico as a circus clown and trapeze artist.

Other popular films Eddie Albert appeared in were "Oklahoma," "The Longest Day," "The Longest Yard," and "Teahouse of the August Moon."

If only because of his role in Green Acres, Albert will never be forgotten. Like the rest of the Green Acres cast, his autographs are very inexpensive. Green Acres is one of the few legendary televsion series from the 1960's where it is still possible to assemble a complete collection without spending a lot of money.

Eddie Albert died May 26, 2005 at age 99.

I purchased this letter a couple years back on eBay for $5.00. Eddie Albert had a side career as a singer, and in this letter, dated Feb 13, 1954, he is thanking a disk jockey for playing his record "Little Child / "Jenny Kissed Me."
